My two year old son has amblyopia of his left eye. He has had to wear a patch for half of his waking time for the last six months. The Dr. told me that he may need to continue doing this for the next 6 months to year. I was curious how long kids usually have to keep doing this until their problem is "fixed"?
Best Answer:
My son wore his for 2 years. The length of time each day did go down. 8 hours, 6 hours etc. He now has 20/20 vision in that eye.

The doctor who put the patch there should have an idea for you.

what does his opthalmologist say? this is the only opinion worth anything. get a 2nd opinon if you don't trust the current specialist.

You might try asking at the Prevent Blindness America forums for children's eye problems. It has mostly parents of kids with amblyopia, so they're a good group to talk with if you're wondering how patching has gone for other kids.
