Has anyone ever heard of a craftmatic adjustable bed? Are they good for the elderly and physically disabled?

I had a Craftmatic. Had it for several years. Works like a hospital adjustable bed. It is great for lifting your legs, or sitting up to read. Helps also, if your lungs are full, and it's easier to breathe in an elevated position.
However, I tend to sleep on my side. Sleeping on one's side on an elevated bed is not a good thing. I had quite a lot of problems with discs in my back slipping out of position. No one ever said it was the bed that did this, but I think that it is.
Now, I have a flat bed, that you can adjust the firmness of the mattress with the touch of a button. I like mine fairly firm. I could have it very soft, if I wanted to. Many variants in between. I also have the "egg crate" foam on my bed. It helps to ease my hip bone, since I am a side sleeper. I sleep well on this bed, and like it better than my Craftmatic. Haven't had any discs slip out of place since I got the new bed. Wouldn't trade back.

They have had old washed-up celebreties advertising that thing on late night television for many years. From what I can see, it is like a hospital bed that uses electric motors to raise and lower the head and foot of the mattress as the user directs. In addition, I think that it has some vibrating feature like in those old-fashioned cheap motels used to have where you dropped a quarter in the slot and the bed vibrated for a while. If you buy the craftmatic however, you won't have to worry about running out of quarters.
I'm fairly certain that they must have a website where you can request "no-obligation free information" about the product.

Hi I've seen these advertised on TV. They're basically like a divan bed fitted with electric motors that adjust different sections of the bed so you can raise and lower feet, head etc. They may help with getting in and out of bed because it can be lowered so they may help certain people. However, they wouldn't do much for bed sores etc unless the person was moved according to normal medical practice. It's a fairly hefty investment so I suggest you check it out fully before purchase. Regards

Don't know of craftmatic but one of my elderly friends has an adjustable bed and it's made her life so much easier. She raises the bottom all night which helps her legs and she also raises the top when she has breathing problems or wants to sit up. She says she wouldn't be without it.

I think I saw this question appear about four times! You really DO want to know, don't you? Yes, they are, but they are NOT cheap!

Hello there If you live in the uk your doctor can get you a special mattress.
This mattress is made from a special foam,
and is covered with a washable material that
drys in minutes.
It is perfect for bed bound people, and helps prevents bed sores and it is free.
Hope that helps.

My friend got one about 5 years ago, its a great bed she loves it, but it cost her a few thousand. I'm sure you are paying for the name and they are available for a lot less than what she paid. Why not Goggle it and see what you come up with.

They are still in business and their beds aren't bad - but beware - they have high pressure, invasive selling methods.
Other brands sell adjustable beds if that's what you desire; but if a good orthopaedic night's sleep is what you want, try the Tempur Pedic mattresses. I have one and it is heaven
