Jobs and Youth/ Work Permit Laws - A Teenager's Restriction?

Dave - 2006-07-27 18:11:07 - Careers Employment

I've applied for quite a few jobs in the San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose areas and I am worried that there are a few laws the restrict me. Since the school year is about to start, CA law restricts 14-15 year olds to work only 3 hours a night for 18 hours in total for a week. I'm 13 and will become 14 this October. All the jobs I've applied for are for part-time and I'm worried that I might not get hired because of only begin allowed to work 3 hours a night. So what can I do to get hired although I can only work for 3 hours a night? The employers all work for companies such as Bed, Bath, And Beyond. I am also wondering about the taxes. Are there taxes for minors working? If so, what percentage of your wage is the tax in CA? Thanks for all your help!! ^^

Best Answer:

·Cleaning, kitchenwork, packing, running errands, gardening, babysitting, newspaper delivery are some of the jobs available. These jobs will be posted in local newspapers and billboards. Many businesses hesitate to employ minors because of the legal restrictions on working hours and documentation required. A better option is to work from home on your computer - write articles, sell on eBay, make a website, take surveys. In some cases, you may have to set up an account in your parents or guardians name, and ask them to pay you, after they get the money for your work. ANYONE from ANYWHERE in world can join!
